Feeling the Wait
Over the years since I have created this game, it has been a favorite for my kids and me and to play while in waiting rooms. A recent trip to the doctor brought to my attention a few changes that would greatly enhance this game, so I took advantage of the break in my studies and made this update. I have made a number of changes which I hope to make the game more enjoyable and easier to play.
The first two updates go together as they are markers to indicate the target position of your last throw, as well as a marker to indicate where the last throw landed. I found this to be helpful since most times I couldn't remember anything about my last turn since I usually have my attention divided between the game and interacting with my kids. I have also removed the numerical representation of the previous turn at the top of the screen, which was no longer needed with the new graphical representation.
The third change was to lower the maximum wind speed. With certain stages I found it impossible to be able to hit the other player if the wind was too strong, so this change will hopefully make the game more fair.
The final change is to the mobile version. I reconfigured the button layout and changed the targeting input to screen dragging, which is a much more natural interaction with a mobile device than the slow and clunky directional buttons I had made. Plus, with the buttons having been moved to the bottom of the screen, there is a better view of the action.
As this is was the very first game I have released, it is not surprising that there were many updates that were needed. But, as I have mentioned, this game gets a plenty of usage, and so I have had a lot of time to work out updates that would make the game more enjoyable. I hope that everyone finds them to be a great improvement. I love the simplicity of this game and I hope these updates further my goal of making games that are fun for all.
